About the event

HOSTED BY VISA LIGHTING

In the last several decades, behavioral healthcare has evolved dramatically, along with our societal understanding of mental illness. Treatment objectives have changed from symptom control to patient-centered recovery. These changes permeate every element of behavioral health facility design, including lighting.

This course will provide evidence-based insights on behavioral healthcare within broader contexts and overview of behavioral health safety standards. It will examine the particular considerations for lighting and luminaire design for behavioral health spaces, and illustrate successful behavioral health lighting applications relevant  to patient-centered care and current best practices.

Presented by Amy Weinberg.  Amy has worked for Visa Lighting since 2021. She has over 20 years of lighting experience, having worked for companies like Hubbell, Osram, and BK Lighting.  While with Visa Lighting, she has participated in numerous healthcare and Behavioral health design workshops. She is the Program Manager for the International Landscape Lighting Institute (ILLI) and a founding member of the San Francisco chapter of Women In Lighting Design (WILD).  She is NCQLP (LC) certified and holds a degree in Quantitative Economics from UC-San Diego.
